【摘要】:ThepurposeofthisPASistoprovideamoreprecisedefinitionofthethrealthatthermalneutronsposetoavionicsasasecondmechanismforinducingsingleeventupset(SEU)inmicroelectronics.TherearetwomainpointsthatwillbeaddressedinthisPAS:1)adetailedevaluationoftheexistingliteratureonmeasurementsofthethermalfluxinsideofairlinersand2)anenhancedcompilationofthethermalneutronSEUcrosssectionincurrentlyavailableSRAMdevices(morethan20differentdevices).ThenetresultofthereviewsofthesetwodifferentsetsofdatawillbetworatiosthatweconsidertobeveryimportantforleadingtotheultimateobjectiveofhowlargeathreatistheSEUratefromthermalneutronscomparedtotheSEUthreatfromthehighenergyneutrons(E>10MeV).Thethreatfromthehighenergyneutronshasbeendealtwithextensivelyintheliteratureandhasbeenaddressedbytwostandards([2]1inavioniCSand【1】inmicroelectronicsontheground).ThetworatiosthatthisPASconsiderstobesoimportantare:1)theratioofthethermalneutronfluxinsideanairlinerrelativetothefluxofhighenergy(>10MeV)neutronsinsidetheairlinerand2)theratiooftheSEUcrosssectionduetothermalneutronsrelativetothatduetohighenergyneutrons.Theseratiosareconsideredtobeimportantbecausewiththem.OnceweknowwhattheSEUratesarefromthehighenergyneutronsforanavionicsboxatopicwhichhasbeendealtwithextensively,suchas【1】,thentheadditionalSEUrateduetothermalneutronscanbeobtainedwiththeseratios.Thus.GiventheSEUratefromhighenergyneutrons,multiplyingthisbythetworatiosgivestheSEUratefromthethermalneutrons.ThetotalSEUratewillbethecombinationoftheSEUratesfromboththehighenergyandthermalneutrons.
